Another move towards achieving our Net Zero 2030 journey… We are proud to announce our Holiday Inn Express Newcastle hotel having achieved its second Carbon Neutral certification under the NABERS Climate Active pathway. This achievement follows the hotel having reeled in a 5.5-star NABERS Energy rating (without GreenPower) and 5.5-star NABERS Water rating in its 2022 NABERS renewals. In 2021, the Newcastle-based hotel marked the first hotel building in Australia to be carbon neutral certified under the NABERS Climate Active pathway.

This continued effort to hold ourselves and our hotels accountable to achieving carbon neutrality ahead of our Net Zero by 2030 strategy is something that the team is proud of and excited to see. We worked closely with 3E Group to make this milestone a reality and thank NABERS and Climate Active for the guidance and support they have given us. Through this milestone, a lot of emissions-based learnings have been generated and we look forward championing sustainability as we progress to our 2030 deadline.
