Pro-invest’s Melbourne Southbank hotel listed as Finalist for Excellence in Sustainability Award

On the 23rd of October, the Urban Developer’s awards black tie gala event took place, announcing sector leaders across a host of categories. Under the category of Excellence in Sustainability, Pro-invest’s Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Southbank positioned as a finalist for its leadership in ‘green’ design. Pro-invest, together with the guidance of Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) – a specialist clean energy financier, investing with commercial rigour to increase the flow of finance into renewable energy, energy efficiency and low emissions technologies – will incorporate a range of initiatives into the Melbourne-based hotel, boosting the initial targeted 4.5-Star NABERS Energy rating to 5-Stars.
The involvement of CEFC marks the institution’s first investment in the hotel sector. Together with CEFC’s guidance and term debt finance facility, a range of initiatives have been incorporated into the Southbank project to improve the NABERS Rating outcome to 5-stars, with the 0.5-star uplift anticipated to translate into a 25% drop in the hotel’s energy use, delivering substantial energy savings while providing ongoing benefits for the hotel, its carbon-conscious guests and the environment. This investment will help set a benchmark within the sector as CEFC works with Pro-invest to promote the insights and energy efficiency learningsgained.
