Driving meaningful change in real estate sustainability is never a solo effort. It’s built on collaboration. The latest case study by ANREV showcases how Pro-invest Group as part of its One Earth, Countless Experiences commitment, together with strategic partners including GRESB, NABERS, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, ANREV, and Aareal Bank, has turned ambition into measurable impact.

Reflecting on Pro-invest Group’s commitment to ESG, Dr. Sabine Schaffer, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, states, “ESG is not just a component of our operations. It is central to our business strategy. By integrating robust sustainability practices across our hotel, commercial real estate, and now our expanding living sector platform, including Flex-Living and Built-to-Rent, we ensure long-term value creation for our private equity real estate investment portfolio and deliver enduring benefits for our stakeholders.”

Back in 2017, Pro-invest Group’s GRESB Real Estate Standing Investment Score was 29/100. Fast forward to 2025, and that score has soared to 81/100, marking a 2.8x score uplift. This transformation didn’t happen overnight. It is the result of embedding ESG principles across the hotel investment and operational lifecycle, leveraging data-driven insights, and working hand-in-hand with industry leaders all the while balancing compliance with culture. Key recent initiatives launched to support impact have included:

  • Expansion of RISE – Reaching for Inclusion through Scholarships & Experiences – an equity scholarship and internship program by Pro-invest Group across Australia and New Zealand through partnerships with Southern Cross University and Auckland University of Technology.
  • Certified 12 Australian fund hotels through the internationally renowned scheme, Green Key with support of the Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance.
  • 100% of the eligible fund hotel portfolio achieved an average of 4.5-stars for NABERS Energy, while 89% rated for NABERS Water have achieved an average of 4.4-stars in 2024.

As Steven Pringle, Head of Asia Pacific at GRESB, notes “…Pro-invest Group stands as a compelling example of our mission in action. Through consistent participation in the GRESB Real Estate Assessment, Pro-invest Group has demonstrated a deep commitment to integrating ESG Principles across its hotel investment and operational lifecycle.”

Meanwhile, Magali Wardle, Director at NABERS, reminds us “…This is the essence of NABERS: what gets measured gets managed, and Pro-invest is proving that better performance is achievable when sustainability is embedded in business strategy.”
