voco Queenstown Opens Following Premium Transformation
Pro-invest Group is pleased to announce the opening of voco Queenstown, marking the completion of the considered upscale transformation of the former Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown.
The 227-room hotel officially opened its doors on 15 July 2026, repositioning the centrally located property within IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium voco portfolio. The transformation was led by Pro-invest Group as owner, developer and asset manager, with the hotel operated by EVT Connect Hospitality.
Located in the heart of Queenstown, voco Queenstown offers a warm alpine experience shaped by the brand’s thoughtful and distinctive approach to hospitality. The redesigned lobby features fireplaces, locally inspired interiors and handwoven artwork by Murihiku-based Māori artist Cheree Te Orangaroa Downes, strengthening the hotel’s connection to its South Island setting.
Kristi Wayman, Director of Design & Technical Services at Pro-invest Group, said:
“Originally designed to reflect Queenstown’s dramatic glacial landscape, the hotel has remained closely connected to its surroundings. Through its repositioning to voco, we continue to evolve that vision, enhancing the guest experience while deepening its connection to place.”
The transformation also introduces Mozzarella & Co., a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and bar showcasing house-made dishes, wood-fired pizzas and locally influenced flavours. New outdoor terraces and fire pits provide relaxed spaces for après drinks, while a private dining room accommodates intimate celebrations and hosted experiences.
The hotel’s refreshed rooms and suites feature contemporary interiors by New Zealand-based Space Studio, alongside a range of enhanced amenities including ski storage and drying facilities, a gym, sauna and flexible meeting spaces. Sustainability initiatives are incorporated throughout the property, including carpets made from recycled fishing nets, refillable bathroom amenities, locally sourced produce and low-waste kitchen practices.
Positioned on the corner of Stanley and Sydney Streets, voco Queenstown provides convenient access to the lakefront, Queenstown’s dining and retail precincts, and the region’s renowned ski fields and attractions.
