Ronald is Founding Partner and Chairman of Pro-invest Group since the company’s inception. He is a serial entrepreneur with over 40 years of real estate investment, development and project management experience working on a variety of transactional projects in Europe, the GCC and Asia.

Ron was previously CEO and thereafter main Board Director of ALDAR Properties PJSC. Under his executive management, the company had a development program in excess of USD75 billion, focussing on residential, retail, commercial and hospitality assets. This included the development of the world renowned Yas Island, home to Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi (built between 2005-2009) along with various other iconic developments. Prior to joining ALDAR, Ron was Founder, CEO and Chairman of Stannifer Group, an integrated development and real estate asset management company with retail, office as well as hotel assets across Europe and other international markets including Australia (1991-2004).

After a merger with an LSE-listed company, the combined company was sold successfully through a trade sale to a JV vehicle between Westfield, Multiplex and Rubens Brothers (GBP 1.9 billion transaction) providing assets such as White City, Stratford City on Merry Hill, today’s Westfield’s flagship assets in the UK. Ronald is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

As CEO & Deputy Chair APAC at Pro-invest Group, Jan leads operations and growth across the Asia Pacific business. Focused on the Pro-invest funds and their assets, Jan leads the senior management team to maximise the value of the portfolios. With 32 real estate assets across the region – including nearly 6,000 hotel rooms – Pro-invest Group has grown to become one of the leading hotel investment platforms in Australasia with a rapidly growing presence across Europe and Asia.

As a Non-Executive Director, Jan is also responsible for monitoring the executive directors and acting in the best interest of the company’s stakeholders. A 40-year industry expert, Jan was most recently the CEO, Asia, Middle East and Africa, at IHG Hotels & Resorts, responsible for 300 hotels and resorts, across close to 50 countries operating under globally renowned brands. During his tenure, Jan led a 60,000-strong workforce, launched several brands and created new business models to grow the region into a US$4 billion business.

Jan is recognised for his passion for coaching and mentoring and his ability to spot and nurture next-generation talent. Having worked in culturally diverse and emerging markets for the last three decades, Jan has developed a deep commitment to social responsibility and inclusion and passionately champions localisation in leadership.

Dr Sabine Schaffer is Co-Founder & CEO (Europe) at Pro-invest Group.

Since inception of the business, she was instrumental in establishing Pro-invest as one of the leading integrated real estate platforms within Australasia covering all aspects of development, asset management as well as day-to-day operations. The Group currently managing in excess of 3 billion AuM across hospitality and commercial assets in the form of closed ended funds, managed accounts as well as co-investment programs. One of the biggest achievements is the positioning of Pro-invest as a leader when it comes to ESG proven by the fact that all the assets within the Pro-invest estate to date are achieving some of the highest environment ratings ( including the very first carbon neutral hotel according to NABERS ratings)

Sabine’s career started more than 25 years ago and spans from looking after Private Equity investments at 3i into retail schemes,  working on high profile projects with McKinsey & Company focusing on Finance and Public Affairs in Europe to working as Director of Investments at a GCC based Private Equity firm responsible for setting up and managing Private Equity Funds and sourcing co-investment opportunities across the region. Sabine focused on Real Estate and established a Real Estate Development Fund in the GCC for newly built office buildings.

Sabine holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University as well as PhD in Economics from Leopold Franzens University, Innsbruck, Austria.

Tim Sherlock, Managing Director Pro-invest Developments and Pro-invest Commercial Asset Management, is one of the founding members of Pro-invest Group in Australia and sits on the Pro-invest Group Board of Directors. Tim identifies and acquires sites for the Group’s hotel and commercial development projects with a focus on Australia and New Zealand.

Pro-invest Developments is also responsible for the delivery of these projects from deal signing, planning, construction through to completion, including phases to ensure each project is delivered on-time, on-budget and on-brand.

An Australian property market veteran, Tim has more than 22 years’ experience in real estate development, including site acquisitions and development management. Through working in senior roles for domestic and international property companies such as Savills & Investec Bank Tim has gained extensive experience and knowledge across the real estate investment and development spectrum, from financial structuring to identifying value-add acquisition opportunities as well as end-to-end development/development management.

Alex is a Managing Director of Pro-invest Europe, based in London, and responsible for the origination and execution of hotel transactions, capital solutions for the European activities of Pro-invest and delivery of portfolio management strategies. He is a hotel sector specialist with 18 years experience in investment, asset management, financing and operations.

Prior to Pro-invest Alex was a Portfolio Manager in the Real Estate Department of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), between 2010 – 2021, responsible for new hotel acquisitions in Europe & Asia. While at ADIA Alex led hotel transactions of USD 3.9bn in enterprise value across Europe, Asia and the USA for a range of investments including direct portfolio and single asset acquisitions, joint-ventures and co-investments. Alex also asset managed various positions within the portfolio, notably in the UK, Australia, Hong Kong and Hawaii. As one of the first members of the Global Hospitality division at ADIA he was instrumental in the growth and strategic direction of the directly owned hotel portfolio to 23,000 rooms globally.

Before ADIA Alex was at Bank of Scotland Joint Ventures with an orientation towards hotel investments and experience with care homes and housebuilders. He completed his MBA at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in 2007.

Alan is Managing Director, Europe, based in London. As a Strategic Regeneration & Inward Investment Specialist, he possesses a complete combination of proven real estate skills to plan and progress major development projects. With his unique skill set, management of strategic relationships and deep expertise in each discipline, Alan is a welcome addition to the London office.

Prior to joining Pro-invest Group, Alan was a Director with Brookfield Multiplex / Multiplex Construction Europe Ltd, driving development support to overseas clients, he analyses development risk to better understand client’s detailed proposals and thought processes, to assist collaboration and project delivery. He is very skilled in driving new business development, economic analysis, and investigating new market sectors. Alan holds a BSc Land Economics, and a Member and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Anthony is General Counsel of Pro-invest Group APAC, the executive responsible for legal and compliance, ESG and People & Culture for the Group.  As part of this role, he manages the organisation’s internal governance, providing company secretarial duties, drafting and settling legal documentation under strategic transactions and providing general legal advice for the Group.  He leads the ESG strategy under the Group’s One Earth, Countless Experiences brand and drives the People & Culture function to enhance the culture of the organisation across its diverse range of hotel brands.  Anthony brings almost 15 years’ experience in the legal and corporate industries with almost 10 years’ experience as senior legal advisor. Prior to working at Pro-invest Group, Anthony was Senior Legal Counsel for the multinational organization, Danone, responsible for managing the legal and compliance function across Australia and New Zealand.  Prior to this Anthony, was Corporate Counsel at the previously ASX listed organization, Vocus Group, advising in all areas of the law including strategic transactions, employment, competition and IP law. Prior to being an in-house counsel, Anthony was a private practice lawyer at the global commercial law firm, Ashurst.  Anthony is admitted as a lawyer in both Australia and New Zealand.  Anthony holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Sydney. In addition, he has a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney and Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. Most recently, Anthony completed his Master of Business Administration from University of South Australia.

Mark is Head of Debt Finance & Risk Management of Pro-invest International Asset Management, responsible for managing corporate liquidity and risk through effective management and prudential oversight of capital and debt sources. Mark manages the Group’s borrowing needs by sourcing new and managing existing banking relationships, as well as taking responsibility for the financial structuring, legal documentation and compliance as it relates to the financing process.

Mark has worked predominantly in the property, corporate and commercial spheres of the finance industry through positions with Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Macquarie Bank, Barclays Bank Australia, Lloyds International and CEFC/Low Carbon Australia. Additionally, Mark has experience in the corporate advisory and property funds management arena through Sentinel Property Group, Anthony Moreton Group, his own consulting company Aspect Group Pty Ltd and Brisbane based property developer Nielson Properties.

These roles have provided Mark with extensive experience in property investment/development due diligence, the provision of senior and leveraged property finance, property funds management, portfolio oversight, credit policy establishment/implementation, and credit decisioning/risk mitigation, to Corporate, Commercial, Private and Government clients. Mark holds a Bachelor of Business, Accounting and Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.

Cindy Van Der Wal is ESG Manager for Pro-invest Asset Management Australia. Cindy’s key responsibilities include communicating the ESG vision for the Group, while researching, administering, and coordinating all ESG initiatives and accreditations. These include GRESB, INREV, ANREV, NABERS and Green Engage, amongst others. Cindy also assists the team with investor presentations, submissions and reporting on all matters relating to ESG policies and compliance.

Cindy was initially employed as Research Intern for Pro-invest Hotels Group where her strong analytical skills and knowledge gained from her business degree earned Cindy a full-time permanent position as Analyst with Pro-invest Developments before taking on the role of ESG Coordinator in 2018. During this time, Cindy also obtained her Honours Research Degree, with her Thesis exploring the effects of bullying behaviours on frontline hospitality employees’ work performance. Her Thesis was published in the Journal of Quality Assurance in Hospitality & Tourism. Prior to joining Pro-invest, Cindy worked in the hospitality industry, most recently as Restaurant Hostess & Waitress with the Mejico Tequila Bar & Restaurants where her primary role was mentoring new employees, customer enquiries, liaising with Head Office, managing reservations, functions and group bookings.

Cindy holds a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management from The Hotel School Australia and a Bachelor of Business in Tourism & Hospitality with Honours from Southern Cross University. She is additionally a Pro-invest Group member representative on the Property Council of Australia NSW Hotel Property Committee and the Hotel Sustainability Sub-committee.

Tjeerd Renkema is Chief Financial Officer Australasia and is based at the Sydney Corporate Office. Tjeerd has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of the Australasia businesses. Tjeerd supports the development of the corporate strategy and provide financial and commercial advice to identify opportunities that deliver sustainable growth.

Tjeerd has over 12 years’ experience in providing assurance and advisory services, which include external audits, accounting- and transaction advice. In Addition to working with companies within the Private equity sector with a strong focus on Real estate and Hospitality including Blackstone, Brookfield and several hotel groups. Tjeerd has a broad experience in leading teams to solve complex problems through combining everyone’s unique capabilities.

In his role as Director of Data, Digital and Technology at Pro-invest Group, Howard is at the forefront of shaping the technology strategy for a leading investment management platform that caters to institutional investors. He is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive range of IT operations, encompassing architecture, application management, systems development, networking, infrastructure, and user support. His expertise is pivotal in ensuring that all technological systems are robust and adaptable, meeting the evolving demands of both Vista Hospitality Group and Pro-invest Group

Boasting over two decades of experience in the IT sector, Howard has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead and deliver on complex IT initiatives. His skills cover a broad spectrum, including IT audit, compliance, procurement, project management, digital transformation, and system migrations. This extensive experience has established him as a leader adept at managing and enhancing complex IT infrastructures in dynamic environments.

Howard’s career is marked by significant achievements, including a transformative three-year period at Event Hospitality and Entertainment. There, he played a key role in launching innovative guest-facing and property management platforms. His five-year tenure as a Senior IT Manager at Fraser’s Hospitality is also notable for major advancements in digital management systems, further cementing his status as an innovator in the field.

In his current position, Howard is dedicated to harnessing the latest technological advancements to improve operational efficiencies and enhance user experiences, particularly for commercial and hotel clients. His strategic approach and deep insight into the interplay between technology and business are invaluable in driving growth and increasing returns for stakeholders.

Marie is Director of Food & Beverage Operations for Pro-invest Hotels, responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of the Group’s food and beverage planning and service, adhering to quality and safety standards and identifying partnership and marketing opportunities to promote food and beverage products, and continually evolve the F&B services to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.

Marie is a highly experienced and driven hospitality professional with over 15 years of expertise in functions & event planning, venue management, and financial operations. With a background as a pre-opening specialist. including the opening and managing of a high-end restaurant for one of Australia’s edgy and successful luxury hotels – QT brand, she has successfully opened multiple venues within forecasted budgets and timelines. Marie’s other achievements include implementing company cultures and brands, maximising profitability and developing strong client bases in competitive markets.

Prior to joining Pro-invest, Marie was a senior recruiter at Black Betty Hospitality Group, seeking talent and recruiting within the hospitality industry. With a Masters in Hospitality Management, she excels in strategically managing restaurants. Marie has a proven track record in growing sales and profit, and successfully managed multiple outlets with teams of over staff members.

Johann is Director of Asset Management for Pro-invest Group, responsible for growing Pro-invest’s hotel and commercial asset management businesses by providing contemporary asset management services that maintain and continually improve the company’s hotel and commercial assets. Johann works collaboratively with many functions across the business including hotel operations, fund management, corporate and hotel finance, developments, legal, and ESG.

Prior to joining Pro-invest Johann was Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touché Sydney where he managed portfolios for Blackstone, Brookfield, Shopping Centres Australasia, and several hotel groups. Johann has over 8 years’ experience in providing assurance and advisory services, which include external audits and accounting advice. Johann serviced companies in both the private and listed environments. Johann is a full member of the South African Institute of chartered accountants and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Accounting Science and a certificate in the Theory of Accounting from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Leah is VP of Commercial for Pro-invest Hotels and is responsible for the commercial direction and revenue of Pro-invest Hotels and Vista Hospitality Group. This role manages all the commercial activities derived from sales, revenue management, reservations, marketing and PR.

With a career spanning over 30 years in the hospitality industry, Leah is a proven change leader with broad experience across domestic and global markets and deep expertise in hotel operations, revenue management, project implementation and training.  In her most recent role with InterContinental Hotels Group as Director Implementation & Training, Leah was integral in the successful roll-out of several industry-leading initiatives, such as the activation of IHG Concerto and the construction of attribute-based inventory across all hotels across Europe, Middle East, Africa & Australasia, in addition to the implementation of NextGen Payments to all hotels in the USA. After almost ten years working and living in Singapore and Dubai, Leah is now based in Queensland, Australia.

Scott is Director of Investments in Europe, responsible for origination, underwriting and due diligence of new hospitality and commercial acquisitions and developments. Prior to Pro-invest, Scott was most recently responsible for leading the feasibility and investment analysis function in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa at IHG. He was responsible for completing complex feasibility and investment analysis as well as due diligence including M&A opportunities and distressed asset workouts. Scott’s involvement in countless negotiations for management and franchise contracts supported IHG’s increasing growth profile. He was an integral part of the deal team during IHG’s acquisition of the Kimpton brand and management platform in 2014, Principal Hotels UK platform in 2018 including complex lease negotiations and several German lease agreements including the re-negotiation of InterContinental Berlin and the future Kimpton in Frankfurt. Prior to relocating to Europe in 2010, Scott was responsible for financial analysis and valuation of management and joint venture opportunities for IHG in the Americas. He joined IHG in 2007, following a previous role in commercial property development, as a Senior Analyst, responsible for completing feasibility studies for new management opportunities. Scott graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Florida, Gainesville USA.

Brian is Director of Portfolio Management and Transactions, responsible for supporting the funds’ portfolio of the Group under the direction of the International Investment team, and the Group’s investment and development transactions in hospitality, including hotels, BTR and hospitality mixed-use across Australia, New Zealand, and other jurisdictions, whilst supporting the acquisitions team in the development of the Group’s APAC hospitality transactions.

Brian joined Pro-invest as Senior Analyst in 2019 assisting the company’s investment management function, working on origination, acquisition and delivery of hospitality and commercial real estate projects in Australia and NZ.

From 2015 to 2019, Brian was an Investment Manager with Tetrarch Capital, an Irish based Private Equity Real Estate investor and developer, active in the hospitality and office sectors. Brian is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Master’s in Financial Economics and a Bachelor in Economics, both from University College Cork, Ireland.

Norman is Director of Technical Services at Pro-invest Developments. He is a registered architect specialising in hotel design and procurement with over 40 years of experience working globally for an international architectural practice (RMJM), hotel operators (Marriott, Intercontinental Hotels Group) and hotel developers (Aldar Properties, Majid Al Futtaim Properties). With key skills in feasibility and concept design, design and development project management, master planning, and hotel due diligence, he brings a wealth of global experience to Pro-invest Group. Since rejoining Pro-Invest in 2017 and in addition to supporting their Australasia hotel development pipeline, he has been proactively advancing development and investment opportunities in Mexico and Europe. With Aldar Properties he led a technical team representing the Owner asset management team in the briefing, delivery and successful completion of 7 hotels, totalling 2,250 keys in time for the inaugural 2009 Abu Dhabi F1 race. Before rejoining Pro-Invest he was the head of Design & Engineering for all Intercontinental Hotels Group brands within the Middle East and Africa region. Norman holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree, is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and an Associate of Royal Institute of Architects Scotland.

Kristi is Director of Design & Technical Services at Pro-invest Developments. Her role is the driving force behind the Group’s design strategy and technical implementation. Kristi is involved in developing and maintaining highly effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, working collaboratively with architectural teams to understand the scope and the translation of the hotel-built form. Kristi’s role is central to the success of each project by providing input and making recommendations for improvement to ensure that assets are designed and constructed to maximise the asset’s full potential and value.

Prior to joining Pro-invest, Kristi was Associate Director at Turner and was responsible for leading the interior architecture team. Kristi holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and has been a member of the Property Council of Australia NSW Hotel Committee.
